If you are expecting a happy post: read no further!

So, another calendar year has rolled over, and we're all supposed to do the 'new year, new me' stuff, right?

And how many people stick to their new years' resolutions? Do you?

Of course, I used to say, 'right, no more chocolate', or 'I'm giving up the cigarettes', or the alcohol, but it never lasted. This is why I no longer make resolutions only once a year. Now every day is a resolution, simply to be a bettter person than I was yesterday.

You will never give up until there is an epiphany that makes you see the error of

your ways and FORCES you to give up.

For me, it was having my lung collapse whilst smoking that forced me to give up.

For others, it may be a heart condition or diabetes diagnosis that forces them to quit.

So, what will it be for you? Will you push your body that far? I did.

Many push it beyond the limits, then wonder why things 'give up' on them. Think about it, if you eat fatty foods, processed foods, no food, fast food every day, how long until things stop working as they should? How long can you abuse your body and get away with it?

'But medical science will put it right!' I hear you cry! So, you expect 10, 20, 30, 40+ years of this abuse to be cured with a 6 hour operation?

Not that simple, I'm afraid. I'm not saying that you should live a raw, vegan detox life (I certainly don't!!) but being aware of what you are putting in your body, what the things you put into your body will do to you, that is a start.

An awareness of what you are eating, drinking, inhaling, taking into your system will help you make the choices you need to make for a cleaner life.

I'm also not saying that it is only diet; medicines can make things worse some times too. A family friend of ours was a fit 30 something, but was taking pills for high blood pressure and migraines (often linked). Heart attack whilst driving due to the drugs being counter indicated!

Anything can happen at any time, So will you be the one who fails yearly, or the one who strives everyday just to be a little better than you were the day before?

I know which I am.

Happy New Year.
