Mindfulness and thankfulness.Dec 15, 20152 min read I apologise if people were expecting a blog yesrerday, time ran away with me. I am back now! Tonight, we are hosting our last meditation evening of the year, so a time to reflect, methinks. Steve and I decided on the sound and meditation mix only in September of this year. By October, we were up and running, having found an affordable venue situated between the two of us. The group has since gone from strength to strength, with new people joining all the time. The format of the evenings changes all the time, but usually goes something like this: informal chat; meditation; sound. We very much just go with what 'feels right' on the day. I have lead meditations on relaxation, chakra cleansing, spirit guides, and mindfulness. I like the mindfulness meditations, they receive a great response, and they really make people stop and think about how we lead our lives without really noticing much that we actually do! I once heard mindfulness described as 'sewing your parachute'; meaning that although it seems as though it is little help at the time, when you need it, it is there and works. I have been in situations that even as little as a year ago would have made me uncomforatable, or even anxious, but using the techniques within mindfulness, I have been able to keep a level head and retain my equilibrium every time. It IS my pararchute. The sounds vary from week to week. Steve is a qualified sound therapist, and it is with him and his lovely wife, Rose, I shall be doing my course next year. The main focus of the sound has been the drumming, but Steve has also delighted us with singing bowls (including charka tuned ones), tuning forks, flutes and even his gong! Steve and Rose make their own drums, flutes and whistle, by the way, so the sound is definitely unique. We have a member of the group who joins in with his digereedoo too. It really grounds us all at the end of the evening and we just get lost in the sound. So, this time of year, I am thankful that we decided to give it a shot; I am greatful for the people who attend the group, who make it unique and such a wonderful place to be on a cold, December Tuesday evening. Thank you all. For the future....? More of the same, more dates and maybe venues, even live streaming on the internet! All go at this end. I will keep you all posted.#Mindfulness #Meditations #httpprinceptherapieswixcomrelax #Soundtherapies #parachute #thankful #future #livestream
